CRYSTAL ISA CONTROLLER+CODEC CHIPSETS:
CS4232 = Controller+Codec 16-Bit 48KHz, PnP, SB/SBPro/WSS/MPU-401 compatible, IDE.
CS4236 = Controller+Codec 16-Bit 48KHz, PnP, SB/SBPro/WSS/MPU-401 compatible, IDE, Integr. OPL3 clone.
CS4236B = Controller+Codec 16-Bit 48KHz, PnP, SB/SBPro/WSS/MPU-401 compatible, IDE, Integr. OPL3 clone, WT digital interface.
CS4237B = Controller+Codec 16-Bit 48KHz, PnP, SB/SBPro/WSS/MPU-401 compatible, IDE, Integr. OPL3 clone, WT digital interface, SRS 3D Sound.
CS4235 = Controller+Codec 16-Bit 48KHz, PnP, SB/SBPro/WSS/MPU-401 compatible, IDE, Integr. OPL3 clone (Malfunctioning!?), low cost.
REGARDING CS4232 BASED CARDS:
CS4232 is the earliest Codec+Controller in the series, Some later version of the Crystal audio drivers do not work properly
with this particular chipset. Though it will not warn you properly! For CS4232 Stick to older versions, such as:
DOS: cwd-v180-1997 dos latest
Windows 95: cwd-v133-1996 s23win
The 'S23' References are related to the Acer Magic S23 Sound Card. A basic card with the CS4232 and a Yamaha OPL3.
This card was also sold as 'Philips PCA70PS'.
EEPROM RESOURCE:
Resource is a tool to upload+download the Plug and Play information header to+from the sound card.
I included all version of this tool I came accross, together with downloaded data from several Crystal sound cards.
It can change the display name of the device in Windows, though this does not affect functionality.
More importantly it allows one to change PnP IRQ affinity; from 5 to 7 for example.
